Ethiopia -- the place where it all began. The famous story goes that a goat-herder named Kaldi, noticing the frisky behavior of his herd, found that they were eating the leaves and cherries from a strange shrub in the rain-forest. Kaldi should have bought stock -- his discovery is now the second most valuable legal commodity in the world! Sadly the original coffee lands are suffering from today's political and economic turmoil and the crops have suffered along with the farmers. Nevertheless, good Ethiopian Coffee is still being produced and our cupper does a fine job securing great beans. First and foremost, Ethiopian Harrar, is a wild coffee. Sometimes the taste of berries will predominate, other times the Harrar's earthiness will jump out at you and usually you will find a soft chocolatey nuance. It is a smooth cup with low acidity and good aroma. It tends to surprise and it always does so pleasantly.
